Cool's Ranking of the Top 110 Rock Songs

I developed this list a few year's ago, in a fannish fit of pique over some of the other lists of top rock songs.

Before we get into that, though, let me put in a plug for the greatest radio station ever to broadcast, Radio Paradise.

For several years, I've been a contributing listener to this Internet radio station. Not only does it play great music, interesting music, and new music, it does so without commercial interruptions. The best thing about RP, though, are the masterful mixes by its DJ, Bill G., who, in my opinion, is a Living National Treasure in the almost lost art of being a DJ (not the scratching kind, the radio broadcast kind, like your Wolfman Jack's). He blends old and new, so the old songs seem new. If every note in a great song relates to every other note, every song that Bill plays relates to every other song. If I were a dot.com millionaire, I'd send the guy $1000/month. If you are, you should do so.

Here's how I listen to RP (almost) all day at work, while remaining in 100% compliance with copyright regulations and the rules for a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility, (which is where my humble 7' x 6' cubicle is), I listen to Radio Paradise about 40+ hours a week, by:
1) At home, on my home computer, running WinAmp on the 192 kbps listen link.
2) Ripping the stream to a single MP3 file with file size set to no more than 676 MB. I used the Winamp plug-in called Streamripper
3) Burning the files to a CD-R. As long as I make only exactly one copy of this file, and use it only for my personal use, it is 100% legal. (Who says? The Supreme Court. (In addition, I am not hidding behind the judge's robes in order to rip off the artists; they are receiving royalties from my contributions to Radio Paradise. Plus, I buy CDs that I never would have, since RP introduces me to many artists that get little or no FM radio play (at least in the Miami market), such as Porcupine Tree, Cowboy Junkies, and Ry Cooder.))
4) Playing the CD-Rs on my personal Sony stereo, which is MP3 capable. I wear either Sony or Bose noise-attenuation headphones. This allows me to block out the ruckus of my cubicle neighbors and concentrate on my work.

Anyway, here's my list. This is what I think is Rock and Roll.
