About the Author

 

            Tom Cool is my pen name. My true name is Thomas Clark Cool.

            I am a novelist.

            From 2000 to 2012, I worked as a computer systems engineer for The MITRE Corporation in Miami, Florida.

            From 1979 to 1999, I served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy. During my naval career, I was stationed in Pensacola, Denver, Norfolk, Ciudad de Panamá, Monterey, Pearl Harbor, Alameda, Washington D.C. and Miami. I made four deployments in aircraft carrier battle groups to the Mediterranean Sea, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Gulf, with workups in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean.

            I earned a Master of Science, Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, in 1987. My undergraduate studies were at The Pennsylvania State University, where in 1976 I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with honors in the honors program and a dual major in Literature and Creative Writing. I studied under the novelist  S. Leonard Rubinstein and the poet John Haag.

            I am a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My wife, Eva, and I have two children, Raquel and Alex, and two grandsons, Leo and Aston.
